Associate Principal Specialist – Veterinary

Summary of the group:
Animal Sciences and Technologies (AST) is a global department that delivers in vivo studies, animal care, and welfare that is compliant to internal standards and external regulations. Principles of the 3Rs are applied to all aspects of animal care and study conduction.
The role:
In this role you will provide high quality veterinary oversight as the Attending Veterinarian at AstraZeneca US sites (Gaithersburg, MD and Waltham, MA) to ensure that animal welfare standards are maintained. Additionally, you will provide advice on model selection and care and expert surgical input for rodent models. This role requires limited travel and the ability to engage in constructive and challenging dialogues in cross-functional teams.
Education & Experience requirements:
- DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine or a certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) of equivalent training is required
- 2+ years of experience in laboratory animal medicine required
- ACLAM board certification or eligibility
- Experience with drug discovery & development
Preferred experience/requirements:
Experience in toxicology studies
Experience in Oncology disease areas and research
